so much effort
i’ve noticed that as i get older, i have to put more effort into doing things. gradually, the degree of which we used to do things is not enough. it’s not that homework gets any harder, it just takes so much will power to get to it, and then eventually get it done. staying awake in class wasn’t a question, but i feel my eyes getting heavier as the semester rolls on. same with my...

imagine
there’s no heaven.  If we all had one chance at a happy life, would we live in peace? Is it necessary to live life with a set of rules through organized religion to be a good person? What more moral guidelines do we need besides the ones we observe naturally? Is it the selfish desire to take someone else’s spot in heaven that drives this world mad? Maybe it doesn’t matter...

being me
Today, six others and I led our hour and fifteen minute social and cultural anthropology class today in a lesson on kinship. In an attempt to break the incredibly awkward silence, I told a funny story about my family, which people actually enjoyed and laughed at! I reacted to the laughter by turning bright red in the face like it was the weekend. Needless to say, the rest of the class was...

How to Spot and Deal with Passive-Aggressives
Passive-aggressives often don’t own their feelings and can be pessimistic no matter how well things are going. The following are some passive-aggressive behavior warning signs. A reluctance or failure to keep promises. Sabotaging the efforts of others. Blaming others for personal failures. Exaggerating misfortunes. Complaining of feeling unappreciated or misunderstood. Persistent...

bruises and cocaine.
i went skeet shooting with my brother yesterday. hit 7 targets the first round, 4 the second. terrible, but not bad for my first time. now i have a giant bruise on my arm.  ryan gosling is mesmerizing. and i’m not talking about the notebook. he plays a basehead middle school teacher in half nelson. worth watching on netflix if you’re into indie films.
